Chipping or breaking a tooth feels like a quick end to your gorgeous, amazing smile. Right? After all, there’s nothing to do short of a new tooth, or a crown, to replace the previous stellar looks of your smile, right?
Well, not exactly. While it’s true that a chipped or cracked tooth won’t ever become naturally whole again, there are a few different things you can do to restore your smile. One of the more popular ones is to get dental bonding done.
Bonding isn’t something that everyone knows about, so today we wanted to help you understand this interesting procedure.
What is bonding?
Dental bonding is the process of using a special resin to fix chipped teeth. You’ll need to visit a dentist like Dr. Walter Dukes to have this procedure performed. Once your appointment is scheduled, you’ll come into our Mesa Dental office in Santa Barbara, California. There, we will apply the resin to your affected tooth (or teeth) and shape it to match your natural tooth. Once the resin is in place, it’s blasted with a UV light and hardened immediately. Then it’s off to get it polished and cleaned, and it’ll look just like the rest of your teeth!
Do they last?
Dental bondings are made from a durable resin, so you shouldn’t have problems with yours unless you do things that could hurt your teeth. As long as you take care of them, bonding will last as long as you need it to.
In addition to lasting, bonding is a painless process as well. It’s a relatively quick procedure, too. If you’d like to make an appointment, or simply learn more, please call us today at 805-963-1222. We can’t wait to help you!
